T&C – Cycle Camps

Registering children for school holiday camps:

  • Registering a child must be completed and agreed by the child’s parent / carer.
  • Persons under 18 years of age should wear an approved cycle helmet while undertaking the training.
  • The NCA-nw strongly recommends that children wear a helmet and that it is fitted correctly.
  • I am responsible for any injury that may occur to my child as a consequence of wearing, or not wearing a helmet.
  • If I do decide that my child will wear a cycle helmet it will conform to one of the following standards. BS6863, AS2063.86, ANSIZ90.4, SNELL B90 or B95.
  • My child will be suitably dressed for cycling.
  • Personal belongings are brought to the training sessions at your own risk and the NCA-nw can accept no responsibility for damage to or loss of any personal belongings
  • I agree that the Instructor(s) can adjust my child’s cycle if necessary.
  • I agree that my child will conduct him/herself in an appropriate manner and follow the directions of the Instructor(s).
  • I understand that the NCA is not responsible for any injury or loss or damage to any person or property either on the way to, or during the training or, on the way from the training unless this has been caused by an Instructor’s deliberate or negligent act or omission.
  • I understand that these terms and conditions must be accepted before my child’s training session commences and that a training session cannot take place if these terms and conditions are not agreed to. This applies to any training organised by the NCA-nw.
  • All activities take place initially in a traffic-free space. These will include utilising off road cycle routes, cycle lanes and MTB trails in Philips Park, Drinkwater and Waterdale and the Outwood trail.

Bikeability:

  • If your child is taking part in Bikeability Level 1, 2 or 3 courses, once the trainees have reached the required standard, they will then be taken out on to local roads for further on road training.
  • The Instructors’ decision is final with regards to the decision to take children out on to the road.
  • Training will cover all aspects of safe cycling, including recommended procedures for starting, stopping and turning left and right and to develop skills and basic strategies for dealing with traffic.
  • I understand that having taken training it does not necessarily follow that my child is safe to ride a bicycle. To become proficient takes much more practice than lessons of this kind can provide.
  • Mountain Biking: All MTB sessions are organised at Philips Park on the MTB trail, no change of venue
  • BMX: We travel to Manchester BMX track at Platt Fields for this taster session, so there is a small charge for the minibus hire unless parents are taking their child directly to the venue. Specialist bikes are provided by the club and British Cycling coaches deliver the activity
  • Cycle Speedway: We travel to Bury Cycle speedway club for this taster session, so there is a small charge for the minibus hire unless parents are taking their child directly to the venue. Specialist bikes are provided by the club and British Cycling coaches deliver the activity
