Adult learn to ride bike lessons

It’s never too late to learn. Our adult learn-to-ride bike lessons in Bury help beginners gain confidence, balance and road awareness at their own pace. Many adults join us to build confidence before cycling on roads or with family.

Our 1-2-1 cycling lessons are tailored to the individual. Whether you’re looking for children’s cycling lessons or sessions for adults, our fully qualified instructors will offer guidance and support at a pace that suits you. From preparing to cycle in a group, learning to cycle on the road or just aiming to enjoy leisurely rides, our lessons ensure you’re fully prepared. We also focus on helping riders travel safely and responsibly on the road, giving both kids and adults the confidence they need.The Learn 2 Ride Bury bike lessons last for 1 hour and these sessions take place off-road, at our Outwood Road Country Park venue.

All our NCA instructors are passionate, enthusiastic and professional about cycling. They are fully qualified to National Standard and are DBS checked. They are passionate about helping individuals progress – whether it’s riding solo or joining a group with children.

Please note, any person under the age of 16 will need to attend with a parent or guardian. Bikes and helmets are available on the day and are provided free of charge, making our sessions feel like free cycle training for families who don’t yet own equipment. However, you are more than welcome to bring your own if you prefer.

Learn to Ride FAQs

What age can children start bike lessons?
Children can usually start learn-to-ride bike lessons from around 4–5 years old, depending on their balance and confidence. Our 1-to-1 kids bike lessons in Bury are tailored to each child’s ability, whether they’re starting on a balance bike or progressing to pedals without stabilisers.
Do you provide bikes and helmets?
Yes — bikes and helmets are available free of charge during your session. This makes it easy for families who don’t yet own equipment to book a lesson. You’re also welcome to bring your own bike and helmet if preferred.
How many lessons does it take to learn?
Every rider progresses at their own pace. Many children are able to ride independently after just one or two 1-to-1 sessions, while others may benefit from additional lessons to build confidence and control. Our Learn 2 Ride sessions take place at Philips Park in Whitefield (M45 7QJ), just a short drive from both Bury and Manchester. The park offers a calm, traffic-free environment that’s perfect for building cycling confidence, ideal for beginners of all ages.
Easily accessible by car from Junction 17 of the M60, Philips Park also has free onsite parking. If you’re using public transport, the nearest Metrolink stop is Whitefield, around 10 minutes on foot. You’ll find us at The Barn Countryside Centre within the park. Follow signs from the entrance and our instructors will be ready to welcome you.
