Safe Urban Driving (SUD) Training in Manchester

We offer Safe Urban Driving (SUD) training in collaboration with EnRoute Training. Our approved trainers deliver this course for HGV, LGV and PCV drivers as part of their Driver CPC periodic training. This course is accredited by the Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme (FORS) and aligned with CLOCS requirements.

TFGM - safe urban driving course

The course, delivered by our colleagues at Enroute Training, is one of many accredited training courses available at NCA Academy. Enroute are licensed by the Fleet Operators Recognition Scheme (FORS) to deliver this ‘off the shelf’ course. The Safe Urban Driving course in Manchester covers the requirements for managing Work Related Road Risk (WRRR) and includes the Construction Logistics and Cyclist Safety (CLOCS) scheme.

Venue: All SUD courses take place at The Barn Countryside Centre, Philips Park, Whitefield (M45 7QJ). Course times run from 8.00am–4.00pm. Light refreshments are provided but please bring your own lunch.

Important: Drivers MUST bring their driving license for registration and identification. CPC upload charges are included in the course fee.

Please do not book onto a SUD course if you have attended a course in the last 12 months.

Urban cycle awareness for HGV and PCV drivers

This Safe Urban Driving course doubles as an urban cycle awareness course, helping professional drivers navigate busy city streets safely alongside cyclists and other vulnerable road users. Developed to meet FORS and CLOCS standards, it focuses on cyclist safety, reducing road risk and improving driver awareness.

Do I need to bring my own bike and helmet?

No, bikes and helmets are provided for the on-cycle practical element. You may bring your own if preferred.

Where is the course held?

Training is delivered at The Barn Countryside Centre, Philips Park, Whitefield, Manchester (M45 7QJ), just minutes from the M60.

There is a practical element to the course that all participants MUST complete. Please flag any issues with your tutor on arrival. Bikes and helmets are provided if needed.

Our training venue is located at The Barn Countryside Centre within Philips Park, Whitefield (M45 7QJ).

Easily accessible from Manchester city centre, the site is just 5 minutes from Junction 17 of the M60. Free parking is available onsite. Philips Park is well-served by local bus routes and is also accessible via the Metrolink tram network (Whitefield stop). The location offers a quiet, natural setting ideal for both the in-class and on-cycle elements of the course.
